Gasgoo Munich- According to the "Han Shui Xiangyang" WeChat account, the main structure of the No. 3 cell workshop—the first to top out at the CORNEX Xiangyang 70GWh Lithium Battery project (referred to as the Xiangyang CORNEX project)—reached a structural topping out on January 28. This marks a major breakthrough in the facility's construction, officially pushing the project into a new phase of tackling the main structure.

Construction officially began on October 28, 2025. With the topping out occurring just three months later, the rapid pace highlights the "Xiangyang strength" behind the project's execution.
With a total investment of 22 billion yuan, the Xiangyang CORNEX project forms a crucial pillar of CORNEX's strategic blueprint: "one global headquarters, two R&D centers, and four production bases." It aims to establish a complete supply chain spanning battery cells, PACK production, and energy storage systems, targeting both energy storage and power sectors with next-generation lithium batteries that offer high capacity and energy efficiency. Serving as a cornerstone for Xiangyang's "Two Capitals, Three Energies" initiative, the project is a strategic centerpiece in the city's bid to build a 100-billion-yuan new energy cluster—carrying profound implications for optimizing the regional industrial structure and driving high-quality development.
The cell workshop serves as the project's primary production facility. As one of four such workshops planned, the early structural completion of the No. 3 facility holds symbolic significance. Under the current construction schedule, over 80% of individual buildings are expected to top out by February 6. Moving forward, the project will continue to accelerate progress—without compromising safety or quality—in a bid to complete construction and begin production as soon as possible.
