First Jeep Cherokee Rolled out in China Plant, GAC FCA’s Guangzhou Plant will Enter into Production in 2016

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai Oct 26)– In the morning of October 19th, a Jeep Cherokee, the very first locally-produced model of GAC Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Co., Ltd., officially rolled off manufacturing line at GFC Changsha plant and began taking dealer orders. This model is of great importance and “the new milestone in the history of Jeep”, said Mike Manley, Head of Ram Brand and Jeep Brand and also COO at APAC at FCA.

The locally produced Jeep Cherokee is expected to be in full production in November and begin deliveries before the end of the year. The company will launch a 2.4L version firstly and then follow a 2.0L version.

GAC FAC enjoys a “double engine” mode, powered by both domestic Fiat models and domestic Chrysler models. By the end of 2020, the Jeep brand's portfolio inChinawill expand to more than 10 models, including the locally produced Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Renegade, offering consumers the most comprehensive SUV lineup.

Besides this carmaker’s Changsha plant, the birthplace of the locally produced Jeep Cherokee, a Guangzhou plant, which is still under construction, will also enter into production in the first half of 2016. By the year of 2020, the carmaker’s capacity in China is expected to reach 700,000 units per year.
