China will grant subsidies to individual buyers of new energy vehicles in five pilot cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chongqing and Wuhan, reports eeo.com.cn, citing insiders close to the Ministry of Finance, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
According to the insiders, the pilot subsidy program will not be launched nationwide in the short term.
The five cities were included in the list of pilot cities for energy saving and new energy vehicle demonstration projects launched by the Ministry of Science and Technology last year.
The subsidy for individual buyers will be between 50,000 yuan to 60,000 yuan, said MIIT’s deputy minister Miao Wei during the National People’s Congress this year.
