Gasgoo.com (Shanghai January 8) - Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. will introduce a compact SUV, a sporty version of its midsized sedan and a concept electric car next week at the Detroit auto show.
The compact SUV, the Trumpchi-brand GS4, is a production model. Powered by a turbocharged gasoline engine, it will go on sale in China in April, according to the major state-owned company.
The midsized sedan is the two-door sporty version of the Trumpchi GA6, which made its debut in November at the Guangzhou auto show in China. It is fitted with a 1.8-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a seven-speed automatic transmission.
The concept car, the Trumpchi Witstar, is a self-driving EV.
Additional details about the Trumpchi GS4 and the Trumpchi Witstar were not released.
GAC is the only Chinese carmaker that will participate at the Detroit auto show this year, according to the company.
GAC, headquartered in the south China city of Guangzhou, makes passenger vehicles and buses under its own brands. It also runs passenger vehicle joint ventures with Toyota Motor Corp., Honda Motor Co. and Fiat Chrysler in China.
