NIO FIREFLY brand hits 50,000-unit delivery milestone in 11 months
On March 29, NIO's premium compact EV brand FIREFLY announced that it has achieved a new delivery milestone, surpassing 50,000 units within 11 months. Since its first deliveries began on April 29, 2025, the brand has maintained steady momentum. FIREFLY reached 20,000 deliveries by September 2025 and doubled that figure to 40,000 by January 12, 2026, taking just over four months to add the next 20,000 units.
Launched in late 2024, FIREFLY's first model went on sale in China on April 19, 2025, with deliveries starting ten days later. It debuted in two variants priced at RMB 119,800 and RMB 125,800. The model is equipped with a 42.1 kWh battery, offering a CLTC-rated range of up to 420 km.With a drag coefficient of 0.287 and a highly integrated electric drive system delivering 90% efficiency, it achieves a low energy consumption of 10.9 kWh per 100 km.
EVE Energy reports strong 2025 financial results
On March 27, Chinese battery manufacturer EVE Energy posted solid financial growth in 2025, with total revenue reaching RMB 61.47 billion, up 26.44% year-on-year. Net profit attributable to shareholders stood at RMB 4.134 billion, or RMB 5.002 billion excluding share-based compensation, representing a 24.76% increase. Adjusted net profit (excluding non-recurring items and share incentives) reached RMB 3.964 billion, up 28.04%.
Operating cash flow rose significantly to RMB 7.492 billion, marking a 68.98% increase. All three major business segments—consumer, power, and energy storage batteries—recorded steady growth. Power battery shipments reached 50.15 GWh, up 65.56%, while energy storage battery shipments totaled 71.05 GWh, up 40.84%. By the end of 2025, cumulative global shipments of energy storage batteries hit 150 GWh.
The company also strengthened its R&D efforts, investing RMB 3.435 billion in 2025, with a workforce of 6,597 R&D personnel. It made notable advancements across battery technologies, including large cylindrical cells with full-tab design, next-generation commercial vehicle batteries, and a 6.9 MWh integrated energy storage system.
NIO opens first store in Costa Rica
NIO has officially opened its first store in Costa Rica, marking its entry into the Latin American market. The NIO Center in San José, launched on March 26, 2026, was developed in partnership with local distributor Horizontes Cielo Azul.
This store is NIO's first in Latin America and also its first overseas location to feature all three of its brands under one roof. Costa Rica becomes the first international market where NIO introduces its full multi-brand portfolio simultaneously.
Customers in Costa Rica can now explore and purchase several NIO models, including the ET5 Touring, EL6, EL8, Onvo L60, and the FIREFLY compact EV.
NIO's entry comes as Costa Rica's EV market gathers pace, supported by rising consumer interest in premium intelligent vehicles and favorable long-term growth dynamics.
