GM Daewoo announced yesterday that it is expanding its presence in Vietnam by introducing its midsize sedan the Lacetti Premiere there.
According to the automaker, GM Daewoo’s Vietnam operation Vidamco, or the Vietnam-Daewoo Motor Company, held a launching ceremony for the Lacetti Premiere at the Daewoo Hotel in Hanoi on Friday, local time.
Vidamco is the second-largest seller on Vietnam’s automobile market, with a share of 34.5 percent. Last year the company sold 14,062 vehicles in the country.
Toyota is Vietnam’s leading auto seller, but GM Daewoo hopes the Lacetti, which will be sold there under the name Chevrolet Cruise, will help it surpass the Japanese giant.
Vidacom now sells the Zentra and Lacetti under the GM Daewoo name and the Windstorm, Rezzo and Matiz as Chervolets.
