Great Wall sells over 51000 vehicles in May

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 8) - Great Wall sold a total of 51,400 vehicles in May, Caijing reported today, citing a statement made by Deputy General Manager Shang Yugui. The manufacturer's sales increased 37.1 percent from last May. Great Wall has sold 230,000 vehicles from January to May.

The Haval SUV series (pictured) remained a top seller, with 22,200 vehicles sold in May and 86,600 vehicles sold in the five month period from January to May. According to Sinolink Securities Analyst Zhang Lei, the Haval SUV series remains the driving force behind Great Wall's sales. Meanwhile, sales of its Voleex sedan line from January to May totaled 86,900 vehicles.

Furthermore, Great Wall exported a total of 38,000 vehicles in the first five months of the year, growing over 40 percent from 2011.

Great Wall's Tianjin production site currently boasts a production capacity of 200,000 vehicles. That number looks to grow even more in the future. In a summit held to discuss its performance in the first quarter, representatives from Great Wall confirmed that the site will give priority to the Haval H6 SUV. The manufacturer is also considering manufacturing the Voleex C50 sedan there.

In other news, seven of Great Wall's models were included in the list of vehicles partially and completely exempt from the Vehicle and Vessel Tax Law.
