Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 25) - Guangqi Honda's upcoming Crider midsize, aimed specifically at the Chinese market, will make its debut in Beijing next year, Beijing Business Today reported today. The development of the Crider midsize, which is being made domestically, is a sign of Honda's new strategy for the Chinese market.

The midsize segment in China is one of the most competitive automobile markets in the country. The Crider (pictured), which is based on the Concept C, is being developed by a Guangqi Honda-assembled R&D team of designers from across the globe. The Crider, which is designed with the so-called 'Cool Dragon' philosophy in mind, measures 4.65 m long, 1.75 m wide and 1.51 m tall, making it larger than other midsizes. It will be powered by a 1.8 L naturally-aspirated i-VTEC engine.

The Crider will join the Crosstour, Accord and City as one of Guangqi Honda's strategic models. The Crider and City will help the joint venture compete with other midsizes sold in the country.
