Gasgoo Munich- The 12th Guangzhou Annual International Investment Conference kicked off on the morning of November 4. Chen Jianrong, director of the city's Industry and Information Technology Bureau, outlined support policies focused on capital, application scenarios, and industrial infrastructure. Artificial intelligence and embodied intelligent robots took center stage as priority emerging sectors.
On the financial front, the city has established two funds this year, each valued at 20 billion yuan. The Industrial Development Fund and the Sci-Tech Innovation Fund are designed to support growth-stage enterprises and the commercialization of original, core, and disruptive technologies, respectively. The move aims to steer private capital toward early-stage, smaller, long-term, and deep-tech ventures.
In the realm of embodied intelligence, Guangzhou plans to open up sectors including industrial manufacturing, public services, special operations, and elderly care to robotics firms. Financial backing will be granted to application projects deemed viable for wider promotion.

Under guidelines released in July titled "Measures for Promoting the High-Quality Development of Embodied Intelligent Robot Industry," the city will select 10 demonstration projects annually, with individual awards capped at 1 million yuan. By 2029, Guangzhou aims to cluster roughly 10 robot manufacturers and secure more than 40 application scenarios for provincial or national-level recognition.
Infrastructure-wise, Guangzhou is developing the 4.9-square-kilometer Guangtang Sci-Tech City as a hub for embodied intelligence. The site has already attracted companies like XPENG PonyTron, Gaishi Xiaoji, and NanoRobot. Additionally, the city plans to build 16 benchmark industrial parks, offering rewards of up to 50 million yuan for each.
