Shanghai December 27 (Gasgoo.com) Guangzhou Honda, the Japanese automaker's joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co Ltd (GAC), will launch its Everus S1 sedan next spring, with an estimated price of about 20% lower than the Honda Fit, xcar.com.cn reported Monday.

The S1 sedan is the first production model from Li Nian, a sub-brand from the JV, and has been showcased at the 2010 Guangzhou Auto Show, along with the 2011 Honda Accent and the City facelift 2011.
The S1 sedan will mainly target the A0-calss market and be manufactured together with the Honda City, Fit as well as other models at the Huangpu Jiang plant of the JV, said Yao Yiming, director and deputy general manager of Guangzhou Honda.
Guangzhou Honda owns independent property rights in the S1 sedan; Other joint ventures such as Changan PSA, Donfeng Nissan also have independent property rights in their products. This has become a new development model for joint ventures in China to develop own brand vehicles.
The S1 is "based on one of Honda's small-car platforms" and targets "the younger generation in China," Honda said earlier. The car will be sold with two four-cylinder engine options: a 1.3L with 73kW and 127Nm, and a 1.5L with 88kW and 145Nm.
