Honda Motor Co expects its global car production to rise by as much as 8 percent in the business year starting next month, led by a demand growth in Asia, the Nikkan Kogyo industrial daily reported on Monday.

Honda, Japan's No.2 automaker, has told its main parts suppliers of plans to produce 3.2 to 3.3 million cars in the 2010/11 business year, up 3 to 8 percent from an estimated 3.05 to 3.1 million cars this year, the paper said.

A Honda spokeswoman said the automaker does not disclose production plans.

The newspaper said the maker of the Accord and Civic models plans to keep Japanese production in check to limit the impact of a stronger yen, while boosting output in the rest of Asia, including by more than 10 percent in China.

Production is expected to fall in North America and Europe, it said.
