Isuzu set to post 85b yen operating profit

Reuters (Tokyo) - Isuzu Motors is expected to post 85 billion yen ($1 billion) in operating profit for the 2010/11 business year, a near eight-fold rise from a year ago thanks to robust sales of pick-up trucks and diesel engines, the Nikkei business daily reported.

Sales rose about 30 percent from the previous year's 1.8 trillion yen, the report said.

Its Japan sales rose 14 percent to 43,535 units, while its overseas shipments of commercial vehicles and pick-up trucks rose about 40 percent, it said.
