Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 21) - Jianghuai Automobile will begin independently researching its DCT automatic transmission gearbox project, the Beijing Times reported today. JAC Motors will not be waiting for US diesel engine producer Navistar, with whom the Anhui-based manufacturer signed a deal with last year. The project will run JAC 29.95 million yuan ($4.65m).

Navistar has established a joint venture for DCT gearboxes in Dalian, Liaoning, with FAW Group, SAIC, Dongfeng and Changan Automobile. However, JAC, not being part of the group, has not yet obtained the technology from Navistar. According to an unnamed source from JAC, the manufacturer would have a hard time making use of the new joint venture.
