Shanghai September 29 (Gasgoo.com) Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Corporation (JAC) has already started construction of its second passenger car plant, expected to be operational in October 2011, said Li Jianhua, deputy general manager of the marketing division of Jianghuai Automobile Sales Co Ltd..

The new plant has a planned capacity of 600,000 units per year, Li said without specifying the location. After construction is completed, JAC will have a combined annual capacity of 900,000 units.

The company's existing plant has three assembly lines that are used to produce the Refine, Heyue, Tongyue, Rein, etc., with an annual capacity of 300,000 units.

The Anhui-based automaker will mainly build mid-class models at the second plant, including the Heyue 2 and Heyue 3 car, Li revealed.

Latest data show that JAC sales in the first eight months of this year reached 129,190 units, of which the Heyue brand sold 43,262 units, accounting for 33.5% of the company's total sales.

JAC plans to increase the number of its dealers from 260 at the end of last year to 370 this year. Although the product line-up of JAC's passenger cars is getting richer, the company has yet to consider building any sub-sales network, Li said.
