Jaguar Land Rover and partner Chery Automobile plan to hike annual output at their Changshu assembly plant by 70,000 vehicles to exploit growing demand, reports China Daily.
The plant produces 140,000 vehicles a year. The joint venture will expand the body shop and build a second trim line, said Chen Xuefeng, deputy president of Chery Jaguar Land Rover.
"This will not only drive our technological development and enhance our intelligent manufacturing, but also contribute to the upgrading of China's auto industry," Chen told the state-owned newspaper.
The plant, which employs 6,000 workers, will add an additional 2,000 employees.
The Changzhu plant produces the Range Rover Evoque, Discovery Sport and the long-wheelbase Jaguar XF.
In the first nine months, Jaguar Land Rover's China deliveries rose 28 percent to 82,641 vehicles.
