Japan is considering discounting highway tolls for fuel-efficient cars, the Mainichi newspaper reported.
The government may set a 1,000 yen cap on tolls for electric cars, hybrids and other fuel-efficient vehicles, the same limit being proposed for mini-vehicles, the report said, without saying where it got the information. That compares with proposed caps of 5,000 yen for trucks and 2,000 yen for standard cars.
