Johnson Controls is building 4 battery plants in China

Shanghai, June 24 (Gasgoo.com) Johnson Controls Inc., the world's biggest independent car seats and spare parts supplier for car manufacturers, is building four battery plants in China, medi reporetd recently.

Johnson Controls has a long established trading-relationship with Shanghai GM, Shanghai VW and Ford Motor, providing batteries for their cars. Since its plants in Shanghai are already operating at full capacity, Johnson Controls has to import nearly 1 million batteries every year from its own country to meet its clients' needs in China.

Due to the constantly growing demands in the Chinese market, the new plants aim to reach an annual production capacity of 30 million batteries in 2015.

Johnson Controls has started to invest $500 million in the four plants in China, the first of which has started construction in Changxing, Zhejiang province, two hours ride from Shanghai. The second one is also going to settle in the west part of Shanghai while the other two are still in the planning period.
