Gasgoo.com (Shanghai January 12) - Zhejiang KaiHua Moulds has begun discussions with Great Wall Motor to cooperate with the manufacturer to jointly develop interior and exterior design for its models. The two companies will begin formal cooperation within two years, Gasgoo.com (Chinese) reported today.
"Currently we are cooperating with eight domestic automobile manufacturers," General Manager of Zhejiang KaiHua Liang Zhenghua (pictured) said. Mr. Liang believes that manufacturers have begun to appreciate KaiHua's technology and product quality over the years. The company continues to make further strides while suppliers make stricter requests. Mr. Liang goes on about the methods his company uses.
"Firstly is offering superior service. Second is constant improvement of product quality, with the key being better management of details. The third is standardized logistics, [making use of] systemized procedures, standardized production, [and efficient] management aimed at cutting down on waste. [By] reducing costs [we] can offer more affordable products. Finally, [we] should supply products on time."
KaiHua is a professional designer and manufacturer of all types of mid- to large-sized plastics, with its key products including automobile bumpers, headlights, doors, seats, grilles and cooling pumps.
KaiHua, like other companies in the field, is especially concerned with fine details, which is why they place a lot of emphasis on production and managerial staff. "Our company is very concerned with talent cultivation and training," Mr. Liang says, adding that staff must undergo periodic training and that industry experts are invited to teach them. Furthermore, the company sends its key staff to study and work overseas. He points out that although there was a huge discrepancy between Chinese and foreign companies in terms of technology and production design ten years ago, that gap has since been bridged. However, Mr. Liang admits that there still exist discrepancies in terms of fine product details. "This is something that can't be improved upon in a short amount of time, [but] will take a long period of accumulation" he adds. "This is why we emphasize employee training the way we do," Mr. Liang says.
Last June, KaiHua has invested 120 million yuan ($18.54m) to build a new factory in Zhejiang's eastern city of Taizhou, which is estimated to have an annual production capacity of 80 million units. "KaiHua is committed to leading the plastics industry," Mr. Liang says. "Plastics will forever be the core of our business."
