Lei Jun stated that the company currently has no plans to enter the U.S. market. He estimated that the YU7 was likely a benchmarking vehicle purchased by an American peer or supplier.
In fact, as early as July 2025, Lei Jun had revealed Xiaomi's export roadmap during a livestream. He noted at the time that with a significant backlog of domestic orders, Xiaomi would prioritize domestic deliveries over the next two years, with export activities expected to launch in 2027.
Latest data shows Xiaomi's January deliveries topped 39,000 units, a figure confirmed by multiple authoritative industry media outlets without qualifiers like "approximately" or "estimated." Year-on-year, deliveries surged 70.33% compared to the 22,897 units delivered in January 2025. However, month-on-month volumes fell 22.33% from December's 50,212 units — a normal seasonal adjustment for the start of the year.
In terms of model mix, the YU7 pure electric mid-to-large SUV was the primary driver for January 2026 deliveries. Since its launch just six months ago, cumulative deliveries have exceeded 150,000 units — more than double the SU7's pace over the same period. With a price point around 250,000 yuan and balanced specifications, the YU7 has become the core engine for delivery growth. Meanwhile, the SU7 is currently in a refresh phase with production lines undergoing debugging and optimization. Xiaomi founder Lei Jun has previously confirmed that the refreshed SU7 is imminent, meaning production resources are currently tilted toward the YU7.
Xiaomi's full-year delivery target for 2026 is 550,000 vehicles. Its Beijing plant is steadily ramping up capacity, with monthly output now stabilized above 40,000 units. The next-generation SU7 opened for pre-orders on Jan. 7 with a starting price of 229,900 yuan; it comes standard with lidar and a long-range architecture across all trims. Set for an official launch in April, the new SU7 — combined with the YU7's sustained popularity — will support the annual delivery goal. Additionally, Xiaomi is accelerating its offline expansion. By the end of January 2026, its service network covered 159 cities (270 outlets), while sales stores reached 139 cities (484 locations).
