During the pre-open session, GAC's H-shares surged more than 12% to hit 2.62 HKD per share, bringing its total market value to 51.03 billion HKD. The move followed a late-night announcement on Sept 14 regarding a major asset restructuring after the suspension of its A- and H-shares. GAC signed a letter of intent with China FAW Group to acquire a partial stake in a joint venture held by FAW through share issuance, alongside a fundraising campaign. Preliminary calculations suggest FAW will emerge as GAC's second-largest shareholder upon completion.
IT Home: Huawei and Seres are set to adjust their "Huawei Intelligent Selection" partnership this week, shifting to an asset-light model. Roles in product, marketing, sales, and service will transition from "Huawei-led" to "Seres-led, Huawei-empowered." The news sparked immediate online buzz, followed by rumors that AITO would spin off as an independent sub-brand. Other unverified claims suggested a reshuffle of duties: Huawei Consumer BG CEO He Gang hosting Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance events, Executive Director Yu Chengdong taking charge of the Zunjie and AITO brands, and Product Director Peng Lei overseeing the remaining three marques, while Wang Yanmin would manage the sub-brands. When asked about these rumors, Peng Lei was quick to dismiss them: "Rumors are baseless."

Supply Chain News
Jiemian News: Financial results for the first half of 2026 show CATL generated roughly 43.3 billion yuan in net profit—averaging 240 million yuan per day. In contrast, 15 listed automakers across the A-share and Hong Kong markets generated a combined profit of only about 20.4 billion yuan during the same period, less than half of CATL's earnings. Compared to last year, when those 15 automakers posted a combined profit of 35.131 billion yuan, profits fell by 14 billion yuan in just a year. The industry is clearly seeing revenue growth without a corresponding rise in profitability.

Industrial Economy
Cailian Press: Maintaining stability in the auto market is crucial for economic development, said Zhang Yongwei, chairman of the China EV 100 Institute, at a media briefing for the 2027 forum. He argued that annual sales must be sustained at 35 million to 40 million units during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. This includes 25 million units for the domestic market to secure internal circulation, while exports and overseas production should shift focus from speed to quality, targeting 10 million to 15 million units annually. China EV 100 forecasts that overall auto sales in 2026 will dip 3% to roughly 33.4 million—still above 2024 levels—while new-energy vehicle sales are expected to hit 18.4 million, a 12% year-on-year increase, with a penetration rate of about 55%. The group added that the Chinese auto market will enter a recovery phase in 2027.
Cailian Press: Data from the National Bureau of Statistics on Sept 15 showed total retail sales of consumer goods reached 32.76 trillion yuan for the first eight months of the year, up 1.1% year-on-year. Cumulative output for the first eight months reached 1,523.9 GWh, up 57.0% year-on-year. On the installation front, domestic power battery installations came in at 79 GWh in August, a 26.3% annual rise, indicating robust growth on both the supply and demand sides.
Policy Situation
Cailian Press: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the National Development and Reform Commission issued the "15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Electronic Information Manufacturing Industry" on Sept 15. The plan emphasizes consolidating the energy electronics sector and promoting the coordinated development of technologies in photovoltaics, energy storage, terminals, and information systems. It calls for further upgrades in high-efficiency crystalline silicon solar cells and the development of next-generation technologies like perovskite tandem cells, along with smart operation and maintenance for PV systems. The document also highlights the need to boost innovation across the new battery supply chain. It aims to solidify the lead in lithium batteries while advancing the industrialization of solid-state, sodium-ion, flow, and fuel batteries. The plan encourages the smarter, greener, and integrated development of new batteries, supporting their application in smart terminals, new energy vehicles, ships, aviation, robotics, construction machinery, and agricultural equipment. Additionally, it urges faster R&D in power electronics to improve the supply of core components and enhance the integration and control of energy storage systems.
