At present, according to insider information to reporter, the original plan that China made project shall put into operation in the next half year of 2014, now may be delayed. GAC Group is still negotiating with Fiat-Chrysler alliance. Up to now, they still have not made agreement. JEEP China made location shall choose Guangzhou or Changsha is still unsolved.
It has been 1 year since JEEP decides China made. However, GAC and Fiat-Clyster alliance have strong seesaw battle. Now, it is less than half year distance from the original schedule for operation, but it is still unsure that how long GAC and Fiat-Chrysler game will go?
“JEEP China made project has 160 thousand production capacities. Location will at the original arranged place of second plant of GAC.”This Feb 18, a staff of GAC tells reporter during interview without any doubt.
According to his introduction, for JEEP project welcome purpose, GAC passenger car has reserved place of its second plant for JEEP. According to GAC plan, its plant located at Hualong Town of Fanyu District Guangzhou has capacity of 400 thousand. First phrase capacity is about 200 thousand. However, after offering 160 thousand capacities to JEEP China made project, GAC passenger car shall take anotherplace after GAC research center for its second plant building.
However, with reporter spaying out the land, which is located at No. 633 Jinshan Rd East of Hualong Town Fanyu District Guangzhou, at this moment, the place GAC reserved for JEEP has not initialed any construction yet.
However, GAC has prepared for JEEP China made project in advance. “In 2013, GAC passenger car sales of GAC are 85 thousand. And we announce to have 115 thousand goal for 2014.”But according to the staff, GAC passenger car set its goal 160 thousand privately to get through the second plant land approve. (According to national regulation,It is only capacityusage is more than 80% to apply a second plant building.)
Meanwhile, Changsha, which competes with Guangzhou, is looking forward to take JEEP China made project as well. “In 2103, GAC-Fiat has contacted with Fiat-Chrysler Asia Pacific for JEEP China made project. Up to now, according to the existed model market launching situation, Changsha is the best location to take.” WANG Qiuijing, vice president of GAC-Fiat says.
