Mercedes-Benz's best-selling model in China
In June, Mercedes-Benz sales in China (including Hong Kong) surged 164% from a year earlier to 13,500 units, creating another monthly sales record. The all-new E-Class sedan also posted strong sales last month, with the sales accounting for one third of the total Mercedes-Benz sales, making it the best-selling model in the country.
In view of the strong performance in the past six months, Mercedes-Benz is confident that the company can achieve and even exceed its full-year sales target in China, said Klaus Maier, head of sales at Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd..
Moreover, the upgraded Mercedes-Benz S-Class family also did a wonderful job in the Chinese market, with sales of the whole family reaching 9,170 units in the first half of the year, up 41% from a year earlier. In June, sales of the S-Class family jumped 65% year on year to 2,220 units in China, where it has the largest luxury-car market share.
Additionally, China has now become Mercedes-Benz S400 hybrid's largest market in the world, with the car's monthly sales accounting for 15% to 20% of the total sales of the whole S-Class family all the time, Klaus Maier said.
