Gasgoo Munich- Dongfeng Citroën launched the updated C5 X on March 23, introducing three trims—Yue Bufan, Yu Bufan, and Yao Bufan—with guide prices ranging from 141,700 to 186,700 yuan. The brand is immediately implementing a fixed-price policy of 113,700 to 153,700 yuan, including brand-specific trade-in subsidies. Supported by four purchase incentives, the update features configuration upgrades based on user needs.

The powertrain remains unchanged, combining the 360THP turbocharged engine with an Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission. Standard features include PHC adaptive hydraulic stabilization technology and the MCS chassis, balancing fuel efficiency and ride comfort. WLTC combined fuel consumption is 6.44L/100km, suitable for daily commutes and long-distance travel. Upgrades focus on exterior details, cabin comfort, and intelligent features, refined based on long-term user feedback.

Visually, the car features a Firefly Red HYPNOS exclusive badge—inspired by the Greek god of sleep—paired with a flowing hollowed-out silk print on the rear quarter windows and privacy glass. The top-tier trim adds lightweight aluminum roof rails, expanding cargo capacity and reinforcing the "one car, three uses" crossover design, distinguishing it from uniform sedans in its class.

Cabin comfort upgrades target the passenger experience. The mid-level trim features elegant white ambient lighting and front ventilated seats with silent fans to reduce stuffiness during long drives. A Clean Cabin intelligent system is standard, monitoring and blocking PM2.5 pollutants, while multi-layer sound insulation materials create a quieter environment.

Technologically, the first 3,000 buyers receive a free digital key upgrade, with retrofitting available for existing owners. Standard equipment includes a 3D color eHUD and 360-degree panoramic imaging. Higher trims add safety features such as Lane Change Assist (LCA) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD).

Pricing and incentives form the core of this launch. The brand promotes a transparent "one-price" model to eliminate traditional negotiation. Buyers receive dual financial plans, a lifetime engine warranty plus a 5-year or 150,000-kilometer vehicle warranty, limited-time digital key upgrades, and a referral points reward. This includes a 99-yuan value-added after-sales package covering car washes, maintenance, and roadside assistance.

As a key model for French automakers' sales in China, the C5 X has built a reputation on its crossover positioning and chassis comfort. This refresh—featuring practical adjustments, a lower entry price, and enhanced benefits—aims to strengthen its value proposition in a mid-size fuel sedan market increasingly squeezed by new-energy vehicles. The model has arrived at dealerships, though its ultimate market performance remains to be seen.
