Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 7) - End user reception for new energy vehicles is not looking too bright, with only two of the ten pure electric vehicles registered in Shanghai in the hands of private buyers, the International Finance News reported today.

On a similar note, BYD has only managed to sell 365 of its F3DM pure electric sedan (pictured) since it hit the market in 2008. According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, there was a total of 7,181 electric vehicles offered from 54 major manufacturers last year, with the average sales volume per manufacturer being 133.

"New energy vehicles are a tricky business," Wang Binggang, head of the Ministry of Science and Technology's new energy vehicle program, stated in an interview with the press. "The country has no choice but to put forward new plans [to help develop the market]."
