Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 17) - Since it began selling vehicles in the Chinese market, Toyota has been hindered by the problem of limited production capacity. In response to this, the manufacturer announced this Monday that its SFTM Changchun Fengyue production site has officially begun operation, the Beijing Times reported today. A total of four billion yuan ($632.58m) has been invested in the site, which was established by Toyota and its Chinese partner FAW Group. The site, Toyota's seventh in the country, has a preliminary production capacity of 100,000 vehicles and will ultimately increase the manufacturer's overall production capacity in China to 920,000 vehicles.

The 970,000 square meter Changchun Fengyue production site is located in the Xixin Economic-Technological Development Area in Changchun, Jilin. Sources from FAW-Toyota claimed that the site's final production capacity will total 300,000 units. The site will be responsible for production of the Corolla (pictured), and will also manufacture the RAV4 SUV in the future.

Toyota currently possesses two joint ventures in China, FAW Toyota and Guangqi Toyota. The two joint ventures boast production capacities of 460,000 and 360,000 vehicles, respectively.
