Shanghai September 7 (Gasgoo.com) Nissan Motor has finished research and development of the electric vehicles at present, and will start mass production in China in five years, Nissan China's Managing Director, Hashimoto Tai Zhao told National Business Daily in an interview on Tuesday.
The Japanese automaker will start its zero-emission program in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei province next year, and will collect as much information as it can to improve vehicle adaptability and upgrade its technology in electric vehicles, Hashimoto said.
It is unlikely for one manufacturer to dominate the market in the development of electric vehicle industry, while working with partners will help achieve more rapid development. Therefore, Nissan will also consider setting up an electric vehicle alliance with the Chinese partners if there is an appropriate opportunity.
In terms of the overcapacity of cars, Hashimoto said it is not just a problem for China but also a major issue for the other countries. It is wise for the Chinese government to use merge policy to encourage development of the automobile industry and to retain the more competitive enterprises, he added.
As for promotion of electric vehicles, all countries have entered in the preliminary stages, and are facing same problems, such as proper charging facilities, battery replacement and so on, Hashimoto explained. It is not just the Chinese government who does not have sound policies, neither are others, everyone is exploring, he added.
