Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 21) - On the eve of CEO Carlos Ghosn's arrival in Beijing, news has been divulged that Nissan thinks the time is ripe for production of Infiniti cars outside of Japan, the Beijing Times reported today. Mr. Ghosn will be coming to make a joint announcement with President of Dongfeng Motor Xu Ping regarding a new business plan.

Early last month, Mr. Ghosn said that he hoped Nissan would work hard to begin production of Infiniti vehicles overseas. He added that China and North America would be the two choice locations for the brand. Reportedly discussions regarding production of Infiniti in China have been taking place for a long time.

Nissan hopes that its market share in China will hit 10 percent within the next six years. The Infiniti brand will play an important role in helping the Japanese manufacturer fulfil that aim. An unnamed Infiniti dealer expressed his desire to see Chinese production of the brand to begin by 2013. Infiniti expects to expand its dealer network by 20 by the end of the year.
