Gasgoo.com (Shanghai January 16) - Nissan will not be reducing its stake in the Zhengzhou Nissan, but actually plans to increase its investments in the joint venture, Beijing News reported today.
Zhengzhou Nissan's sister joint venture, Dongfeng Nissan, outlined a large-scale expansion plan last year. According to the plan, Zhengzhou Nissan will be incorporated into Dongfeng Nissan's expansionary vision.
However, Nissan Vice President Hideto Murakami was clear in stating that Nissan was not going to reduce its investments in the joint venture. The announcement will go a long way into reassuring the employees of Zhengzhou Nissan, who have been concerned about Dongfeng Nissan's increasingly aggressive outlook towards the JV.
Zhengzhou Nissan's annual sales for the last three years totaled 56,056 units, 100,100 units and 115,518 units, respectively. Meanwhile, sales of Dongfeng branded automobiles have constantly been on the rise. In the last three years, Dongfeng models have accounted for around 60 percent of Zhengzhou Nissan's sales. Dongfeng Motor Vice President Masafumi Manabe expects to see that number increase in the following years.
