Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 17) - The China Consumers’ Association released a report earlier this week analyzing the situation of consumer complaints of automobile products, the China Youth Daily reported today. The report was released to coincide with World Consumer Rights Day. According to figures from the report, there were a total of 14,379 complaints made against automobile and automobile part products. 40 percent of these cases were due to quality concerns, 21 percent were caused by contract infringements and 14 percent by poor after sales service.

The analysis report summarizes consumer complaints into four main categories: unfair contracts, quality concerns, excessive maintenance fees and forced service fees.

The CCA’s analysis alleges that automobile dealers have coerced buyers with false advertising and other methods in order to boost sales, which has contributed to the number of sales-related complaints. Shady service practices have also contributed to the rise of service-related complaints. Meanwhile, the proportion of quality-related complaints have fallen from last year, however their number remains very substantial.
