Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 24) - The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has received notification that Chrysler China will begin a recall of a portion of its 2012 model year Jeep Compass and Patriot SUVs next month, Gasgoo.com (Chinese) reported today. The recall, which will begin on May 30, will target 546 imported Jeeps in China, with production dates ranging between December 2011 and January 2012.

The relief valves in the fuel tanks of the vehicles in question are suspected to have been damaged upon installation, which may cause fuel leaks or combustion to occur in the event of a crash. Chrysler China will conduct free inspection and maintenance of all recalled vehicles. Any unsold vehicles in inventory will also be inspected and serviced before being put back on sale. The company, via its authorized dealerships, will begin contacting affected owners next month to schedule appointments.
