Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 9) - Porsche announced a swift denial in response to media speculation that the German manufacturer would begin production within China, the Beijing Daily reported today. In an official announcement Porsche said they were not considering cooperating with any Chinese company at the moment.

The allegations included rumors that Porsche would be manufacturing its Cajun SUV (pictured) in Jilin's capital of Changchun, which the manufacturer confirmed would only be produced in its home country. The rumors came as the result of a statement Porsche CEO Matthias Müller made earlier in which he said his company is not limited to manufacturing in Germany. According to Mr. Müller, as long as each vehicle was made with 'Porsche design' in mind, it was not important where it was built at.

Porsche sold 150,000 vehicles in China last year, only about 5,000 less than the manufacturer sold in the US. This year is looking even brighter for Porsche, nearly 150,000 vehicles sold since the start of the year and counting.
