In the attempt to sell more cars and comply with the strict emission standards, Porsche announced today that it will introduce a V6 version of the Panamera sedan at the Beijing Auto Show in China. The V6 Panamera will go on sale in the summer with a rear-wheel drive version and an all-wheel drive version, the Panamera 4.

Both models will get a 3.6-liter direct-injected V6 that cranks out an even 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It will be connected to a sevedual-clutch Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe gearbox, which is way to long of a name for anything, let alone a gearbox. Porsche says that the V6 weights about 66 lbs, lighter then the current V8, making the cars weight around 3,815 lbs. The new engine will be made in Porsche’s Zuffenausen, Germany plant.

The all-wheel drive Panamera 4 will come with Porsche’s active all-wheel drive system that comes in the V8 model.

Porsche says that the all-new V6 model will get about 25 mpg U.S and around 24 mpg for the Panamera 4. The lower emissions give the Panamera a LEV rating. With gas mileage like that, it’s hard to imagine why anybody would want a luxury SUV.

Porsche has not released pricing for the U.S version, but in Europe, the V6 Panamera will go for 63,000 euros before VAT, while the Panamera 4 will go for 70,500 euros.
