Production of Roewe MG5 to begin next June

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 30) - SAIC's brand-new Rover MG5, which made its debut in concept form at April's Auto Shanghai 2011 automobile exhibition, is schedule to begin production next June, the Beijing News reported today.

The MG5 compact, which shares a platform with SAIC's Roewe 350 (pictured below), will be priced between 90,000 and 130,000 yuan ($13,886-$20,058). The MG5 also takes its interior design cues from the 350.

The MG5 comes with 1.5 L naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines, with the former available in the Roewe 350 as well.
