PSA's new deputy manager of Asia operations comes from Shanghai GM

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 19) - Sun Xiaodong, SAIC Group's executive director of quality control and economic management, will be moving to PSA, Gasgoo.com (Chinese) reported today. Mr. Sun will be taking the role of deputy manager of PSA's Asia operations, a position only behind CEO Grgoire Olivier and PSA's executive board. Mr. Sun's new appointment is one of the highest positions for a Chinese executive to attain at a foreign automobile company.

Mr. Sun, who began working at Shanghai GM in 1997, was appointed vice president of the joint venture four years ago. Under his direction, Shanghai GM brought over a slew of new models including the Chevrolet New Sail, Buick Regal and Buick Excelle (Kaiyue). During his time there, Shanghai GM's sales grew dramatically, with the JV having sold nearly 1 million vehicles in only seven years.
