French carmaker Renault aims to produce more than 200,000 electric vehicles per year by 2015-2016, French paper La Tribune said, citing company sources.
At least 150,000 will be "Zoe" cars, which will be launched in mid-2012 using a modified version of the Clio platform, according to the article.
Renault says electric vehicles will account for a higher share of the group's overall production than the 5 percent estimated for the industry in 2015-2016, la Tribune added.
Renault declined to comment.
