Shanghai, June 25 (Gasgoo.com) The Renault-Nissan Alliance is teaming up with Nissan Motor's local joint venture Yulon-Nissan Motor (YNM) to promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs) in Taiwan, media reported this week.
Renault-Nissan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Yulon-Nissan Motor and Taiwan's Taichung City. Under the agreement, the partners will jointly study the Electronic Vehicles (EV) Connection Program in Taichung City to make the city EV-friendly.
Renault-Nissan and YNM will work with Taichung city to research how to include electric vehicles in the city's ongoing project of building a sustainable infrastructure through the introduction of a high-speed railway and electric bikes and motorbikes.
As parts of the initiatives, the city plans to set up a special EV promotion team, introduce EV education events for the public, offer incentives on new EV purchases, set up charging infrastructure and use EVs as official vehicles.
Renault-Nissan has earlier also signed agreements with mainland China's central city of Wuhan and southern city of Guangzhou to promote electric vehicles for local government use and public transportation.
