Renault to discuss possibility of building electric cars in Romania

Romania Business Insider - French manufacturer Renault is interested in producing electric cars in its Romanian factory at Mioveni, according to the Romanian Environment Minister, Laszlo Borbely. "I"ll meet Dacia- Renault representatives to discuss several topics, including the package of future facilities which we prepare for manufacturers of electric cars. Renault is interested in manufacturing electric cars in Romania", said Laszlo Borbely quoted by Romanian daily Gandul.

The only facility offered so far for the purchase of electric or hybrid vehicles will be the exemption from paying the first car registration tax. Constantin Stroe, the vicepresident of Dacia, confirmed the meeting with the Minister of Environment ,adding he could not give details on the topics to be discussed.

Renault announced in early April that will build its new small engine with low fuel consumption in its factory in Romania, somewhere in 2012 or 2013. The carmaker owns Dacia car manufacturer in Romania.
