Shanghai August 16 (Gasgoo.com) Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) sold 278,900 vehicles in July, up 24.5% from a year earlier, of which sales of its commercial vehicles rose 5.9% to 97,900 units.
In January-July 2010, the top automaker boosted its vehicles sales to 2.05 million units, up 41.8% year on year, media reported Monday.
In the first seven months of this year, sales of SAIC's commercial vehicle divisions totalled 821,800 units, an increase of 27.8% over the same last year.
SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., General Motors' mini commercial vehicle joint venture in China with SAIC Motor and Liuzhou Wuling Automobile, sold 87,600 vehicles in July and 727,700 vehicles in the first seven months (up 26.2%).
Sales of Saic-Iveco Hongyan Commercial Vehicle, a joint venture between Italian commercial vehicle company Iveco and SAIC Motor, reached 2,500 units in July and 21,900 units in the first seven months(up 70%).
Nanjing Iveco, another partnership between SAIC and Italy's Iveco, sold 2,526 Iveco cars and 4,998 Yunjin cars in July. In the period from January to July, sales of Iveco cars jumped 46.1% to 19,300 units, while sales of Yujin gained 32% to 48,600 units.
