Gasgoo Munich- Autonomous trucking firm KargoBot.ai has secured more than $100 million in a Series B funding round. The investment was co-led by Horizon Robotics and Gaorong Ventures, with participation from Hongqi Investment, Fengshion Capital, and Orient Renaissance Capital. Several existing shareholders also participated.
Focused on arterial logistics, the company has transitioned from technical verification to commercial operations. Public data shows its cumulative freight volume has reached 1.2 billion tonne-kilometers, with regular unmanned transport operations operating in regions like Inner Mongolia. Proceeds from this round will primarily fund the expansion of its unmanned fleet. The company plans to deploy 1,000 autonomous trucks by the end of this year, aiming to put 10,000 smart vehicles on the road in the next few years.

KargoBot.ai has adopted a "hybrid intelligent platooning" model for its technology roadmap. In 2024, it became among the first in China authorized to conduct autonomous road tests across multiple regions in North and Northwest China, successfully executing L4-level "one-leading-three" platoon tests on public roads. By 2025, it had secured one of the first commercial pilot qualifications in China for fully unmanned platoons. To date, KargoBot.ai holds more than 50 licenses for unmanned commercial operations, operating a fleet of over 400 autonomous trucks. Its cumulative testing and operational mileage exceeds 35 million kilometers, spanning more than 10 provinces and municipalities.
On the commercial front, the company has partnered with several automakers to launch seven mass-production models, providing smart logistics services to over 20 clients. Its comprehensive solution, KargoOmni™, integrates end-to-end algorithms with reinforcement learning. The company claims this increases human efficiency by between 83% and 300%, while increasing overall operational efficiency by more than 50%. Additionally, KargoBot.ai has independently designed a cockpit-less transport robot to meet automation needs across the entire logistics chain.
Horizon Robotics' investment team noted that arterial logistics is a trillion-yuan market with enduring value for autonomous driving, adding that KargoBot.ai has successfully validated both its technology and business model. Xin Wang, a partner at Gaorong Ventures, cited the significant potential of the Robotruck market. He noted that KargoBot.ai chose to tackle complex open-road scenarios from its inception and has now entered a new phase of large-scale development.
Wei Junqing, CEO of KargoBot.ai, views this funding round as a key transition from validation to large-scale deployment. The next step, he said, is to expand the industrial ecosystem and build a transport network with comprehensive coverage.
Arterial logistics currently handles over 70% of the country's cross-regional freight transport, making it a key sector for scaling autonomous driving. Industry forecasts suggest commercialization in this sector will reach an inflection point within the next one to two years.
