Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 8) - In accordance with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine's requests, Shanghai GM has ordered a recall of 602 Buick LaCrosse eAssist hybrids, a post on the organization's official website revealed. The recall will target LaCrosse hybrids manufactured between June and November of last year.

The LaCrosse sedans (pictured) in question are suspected to have a fault with their electronic control units. This fault, which should be indicated by a flashing warning light, may hinder the car battery's charging ability. If the driver ignores the warning and continues to operate the car, various engine related issues, including failure to start up, spontaneous powering off and even spontaneous combustion, may occur.

Shanghai GM will conduct maintenance of the ECUs in all recalled vehicles in order to fully eliminate the problem. The joint venture will contact owners of affected vehicles via its dealerships to set up appointment times for repair. Concerned owners may also call the JV's customer service hotline for more details.
