China auto industry management replaces quite frequently this year. Last week, Shanghai GM announces that Yongming Ye will leave GM general manager position, and takes up president of Brilliance Group which is a key state-owned enterprise of Shanghai. This week, Xiaoqiu Wang will be the 5th general manager of 15-years history Shanghai GM after Maoyuan Hu, Hong Chen, Lei Ding and Yongming Ye.
Aug 9, Yongming Ye made an appointment with media in the form of dinner. When talked about the period he in charge of Shanghai GM, Yongming Ye said emotionally that he was quite influenced by SAIC GM company culture and fantastic team, which reflects to sales, which occupied sales champion honor again as an individual company.
Yongming Ye has taken over Shanghai GM for two years only, but he definitely is a “veteran” of SAIC Group. He took up vice manager of Economy Operation Dept. of Shanghai Automotive Industry (Group) Corporation as early as 1996. And he has begun working for Shanghai Automotive industry Sales Corporation since June 1997, and served as vice general manager and general manager. He was transferred to Shanghai Volkswagen in 2004 as sales and marketing executive manager; and then he was transferred back to Shanghai Automotive Industry (Group) Cooperation for vice president. In Feb 2011, he took up vice president of SAIC and general manager of Shanghai GM.
When Yongming Ye took up general manager position of Shanghai GM, the company has won 6th sales champion of China passenger car. People are curious that how Yongming Ye remains or even exceeds the achievement made by Shanghai GM already. Yongming Ye advertise creative marketing methods one after another, reorganizing price system of Mairuibao, strengthening LaCrosse and Regal, pushing up luxury brand Cadillac etc. All the marketing methods contribute to Shanghai GM won the 7th and 8th sales champion of China passenger car again.
Now, Xiaoqiu Wang takes baton from Yongming Ye. He was one of the leaders of SAIC passenger car project. Xiaoqiu Wang now is leading an aircraft carrier with 1 million auto sales annually. Will he continue the honor or can’t walk out of his predecessors’ achievement?
