Gasgoo.com (Shanghai June 13) - Production of the Baojun 630, Shanghai GM Wuling's first own brand vehicle, will be delayed, official sources told the Chengdu Evening News today. The Baojun 630 made its debut at April's Shanghai automobile exhibition Auto Shanghai 2011.
Chengdu-based Lingtong Jiachi, while unable to confirm a specific date, has already begun undergoing training for introducing the new brand. Its clear to see that the clock has already counting down on the new brand's official market debut. "I personally believe [the 630] will hit the market on July 18," Dealer President Wu Yan said. The date would mark the one-year anniversary of the annoucement of the Baojun brand.
Some analysts believe that the late release of the Baojun is due to ever decreasing sales during April and May, as well as cool market response to the release of Guangqi Honda's rival own brand model Everus S1. Other anaylsts are putting down the delay to Shanghai GM reevaluating the car's market position.
