Shanghai August 19 (Gasgoo.com) Sun Xiaodong, former Deputy General Manager of Shanghai GM, will join Shanghai Volkswagen as General Manager, an insider at Shanghai VW disclosed last week.

Up until recently, Zhang Hailiang, Sales and Marketing Executive Manager of Shanghai Volkswagen, and Sun Xiaodong, now Executive Director of quality control and economic operation department of SAIC are said most likely to become the candidates.

Sun Xiaodong joined Shanghai GM in 1997 as director of Shanghai GM's marketing department and began to serve as deputy general manager of the company from August 2007. In April 2009, he was appointed as Executive Director of Shanghai GM's quality control and economic operation department.

Industry insiders see Sun as a marketing expert and the innovative and pragmatic approach he has been using in business is also greatly appreciated, which makes him the best person for the position because Shanghai VW is actually facing great challenges of sales boost at present.

However, SAIC says the new General Manager for Shanghai VW has not been decided yet.
