Gasgoo.com (Shanghai September 19) - Shanghai Volkswagen's 7th million vehicle, a New Passat, has rolled off the production lines, the Beijing News reported today. With its production, the joint venture has not only become the first manufacturer in China to break the 7 million mark, but also the manufacturer with the most sedans produced.
The New Passat has seen its monthly sales grow from 7,659 in its first month on market to 18,006 in August. The Passat brand as a whole helped net Shanghai VW over 20,000 sales.
Meanwhile, Shanghai VW's dealer network, which already has over 500 outlets, looks to reach 581 by the end of the year.
