Shanghai VW reports steady growth in Q1

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 22) - Shanghai Volkswagen, China's second largest joint venture, reported steady growth in sales of VW and Skoda vehicles this quarter, Economic Observer News reported yesterday. The JV reported selling 90,057 vehicles last month (an increase of 6.2 percent from March 2010), while total first quarter sales reached 260,168 (increasing 23.2 percent from 2010 Q1 sales).

Shanghai VW and parent company Volkswagen Cars hopes to further capitalize on their strong sales with the recently debuted new generation Passat (pictured). The Passat looks to be one of the JV's most important vehicles this year.
