Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 11) - Shanghai Volkswagen, currently China's second largest joint venture, has finalized the location of their sixth production site, Business China reported today. The factory is set to be built in Ningbo located in the northeast of Zhejiang province.

Staff from Shanghai VW had previously made many visits to Ningbo. VW is looking to further cooperation between its two joint ventures Shanghai VW and FAW-VW to develop the company's coverage in the south of the country from 12 percent to 20 percent. VW hopes to increase Chinese sales from its current 150,000 to over half a million.

In line with its development strategy, Shanghai VW has begun cooperating with Fiat's Nanjing production site. However, due to increased strain on the factory, Shanghai VW has no choice but to find other options.
