Gasgoo.com (Shanghai April 12) - Shanghai is currently not considering putting out restriction policies targeting vehicles registered outside the city, Deputy Director of the city's Public Security Bureau Zhu Weiming said in an open interview with the public today. In a Beijing Times report, Mr. Zhu was also quoted as saying that the city has no other long-term plans to limit vehicles with out-of-city license plates.

Currently Shanghai prohibits vehicles with non-Shanghai license plates from using the city's elevated roads during morning and evening rush hour. Mr. Zhu said that the policy, which also target empty taxis and driving school vehicles, was necessary to deal with the high flow of traffic in the city and was not solely drawn up to target drivers without Shanghai plates.
