Arirang News - Despite the automobile trade imbalance being a key sticking point in the pending Korea-U.S. free trade deal, Korea's car exports to the U.S. surpassed the US$10 billion mark last year for the first time.

The Trade Ministry, citing data from the U.S. Department of Commerce, said that Korea exported vehicles and auto parts worth more than $11.7 billion to the U.S. last year, while importing around $920 million.

The record high trade surplus of $10.8 billion in 2010 is a rise of 24 percent from the year before.
