The total area is 1.68 million square meters and the investment in the 1st process reaches 12 billion CNY. According to the information, the fourth generation Lavida will be manufactured in the base and the production volume is predicted to be 40,000. Mrs. Huang, the vice provincial governor of Hunan province, figured out the Shanghai Volkswagen project in Changsha was the biggest and best industry project brought in Hunan, which could promote the steady increase and also accelerate the overall level of Hunan auto industry.
At present, Shanghai Volkswagen owns 3 factories in Anting with the capacity of 820,000, Nanjing factory with 300,000, Zhangyi factory with 300,000 and Ningbo factory with 300,000. Besides, there will be the capacity of 300,000 in new Urumchi factory from 2015 to 2016 and the capacity of Changsha factory is 30,000 per year. The sales volume target of Shanghai Volkswagen in 2015 is around 1.9 million to 2 million due to unreleased capacity of new factory, increasing by 10% to 15%.
The Changsha factory of Shanghai Volkswagen perfects the auto manufacturing system of the city and will promote the development of passenger car industry in Changsha. This base is important for Shanghai Volkswagen strategically and would be the hinge connecting Mid-China and South-China.
