Gasgoo Munich-Toyota Boshoku (China) and Huaqin Technology officially signed a joint venture agreement on April 21 to establish a new company focused on the R&D and sales of smart cockpit control products and software, Gasgoo reported. The move signals a cross-industry integration between a traditional interiors giant and a smart electronics manufacturer, accelerating the development of next-generation mobility spaces.

Under the agreement, the new entity will combine Toyota Boshoku's deep engineering expertise in seats and interior systems with Huaqin's strengths in intelligent electronic control and software platforms. The partners will focus on control products and software for cabin comfort, aiming to build smart cockpit solutions that anticipate passenger needs. The initiative is designed to meet growing demand in China for high-end, personalized, and intelligent mobility experiences.
As the automotive industry evolves from a simple mobility tool into a "third living space," the focus of competition has shifted to in-cabin human-machine interaction, environmental control, and comfort. The partnership aims to transition from hardware provision to full software-hardware integration by combining Toyota Boshoku's global leadership in seat frames, trim, and interior modules with Huaqin's capabilities in consumer electronics and software integration. Future control systems could link seat adjustments, climate control, audio, and ambient lighting to deliver adaptive, scenario-based immersive experiences. This collaboration represents a strategic move for traditional parts suppliers pivoting toward software-defined cockpits.
